The Thoute Web Clipper is a browser extension for Chrome and other Chromium browsers. Clip an article or a YouTube video into your journal in one click — the readable text, the source link, and any notes you add.
Coming soon to the Chrome Web Store. The Thoute Web Clipper is in review — this page will get its one-click install link the moment the listing goes live.
It works in any Chromium-based browser that installs extensions from the Chrome Web Store. After installing, pin the Thoute icon to your toolbar so it's one click away.
Updates are automatic: once it's installed, your browser keeps the clipper up to date in the background whenever we publish a new version.
https://app.thoute.com — leave it as is unless you self-host.That's it — the clipper stays signed in until you sign out.
The clip lands as a new block on today's journal page, captured alongside the rest of your day. From there you can move it, tag it, reference it, or file it under another bullet like anything else. Every clip also turns up in the Explore → Attachments tab — see Library.
Your clips are stored encrypted in your vault. One thing worth knowing: unlike writing in the app — where everything is encrypted on your device before it leaves — the clipper hands the page to Thoute's server to extract the readable article and encrypt it. So a clip's page contents pass through the server (over an encrypted HTTPS connection) at the moment you clip. See Privacy for the full picture.
