Thoute is two fast outlines for everything you think: Today, where thoughts land on the day you have them, and the Library, where the ones worth keeping get a durable home. Notes, tasks, events, links, attachments — all bullets, all end-to-end encrypted.
Every bullet has its own identity. It can be referenced, tagged, dated, typed, and viewed in multiple ways without losing its place in the outline.
There are two writing surfaces. Today is the date-based outline: every thought, task, file, or event lands on a day, and for many people that is the only organization they will ever need. Capture everything, tag what you want to find again, and stop there. The Library is a second outline with no dates: a hand-arranged hierarchy for things that should outlast the day they were written, like a project's structure, the people in an organization, or reference material. It's entirely optional; reach for it when a date-based surface stops being the right shape for something.
Everything else you see (Tasks, Calendar, Files, Timeline, Recall, tags, search) is a lens over those same bullets, not a separate store. The strip shows Today · Tasks · Calendar · Library · Ask; the rest live under More, and any of them can be pinned to the strip.
Any two lenses can sit side by side. Hold Option and click a lens, or press ⌘, to open it beside the one you're in; then drag bullets between the panes (Today to Library, a task into a project, a block into a document). Dropping moves the bullet; hold Option while dropping and a small menu asks what to do — leave a reference at the destination, or move the bullet and leave a reference behind in its old spot. Press Escape to cancel. (macOS only lets a drag carry the Option key, so the choice is a menu rather than a second shortcut.)
Your data is yours and only yours. The server stores ciphertext. We cannot read your bullets.
